To Absent Friends Week

As part of the 'To Absent Friends Festival' in November, Sunrise Partnership and the GATE Project co-hosted an ‘Absent Friends Lunch’ in Aberdeen.

The aim of the event was to support and encourage people to remember family and friends who have died, and to share stories and memories of them in a supportive and relaxed environment.

As well as a picnic style lunch there was a story teller and some activities designed to facilitate remembering and talking about absent friends.

Taking time out to remember loved ones and share memories was very therapeutic.  We will be hosting another event in November 2018.  For more information about the To Absent Friends Festival click here.

Meet Sophie Mulhere - Miss Aberdeen and Sunrise Ambassador. Sophie has been helping to raise awareness of Sunrise and spoke so very movingly at a Sunrise stakeholder event. She has also raised funds by selling her dresses worn at various pageants.  We love this Sunrise inspired outfit.  Thank you for all you are doing Sophie.

 Want to get involved?

We have a small but enthusiastic team of volunteers who help raise funds and awareness for Sunrise.

Plans for 2018 bucket collections, bag packing, a quiz night, and gin & chocolate tasting.  None of this will  be possible without volunteers giving of their time.

So if you've got some time to spare and think you can help us to raise funds and awareness for Sunrise, we'd love to hear from you.
